LTS Connect Playback & Recording Fix Guide
LTS Connect playback not working or no footage on the timeline? Find recordings, search motion events, download clips, and fix laggy playback.
This page is for LTS Connect users who open playback and see an empty timeline, can't find a recording, or get choppy video over the cloud. It walks through why footage goes missing and how to search, export, and smooth out playback.
Why is my LTS Connect playback not working?
When you tap Playback and the timeline is blank, the app is usually fine — the problem is at the recorder. Work through these in order; most "LTS Connect not recording" reports are one of the first three.
- Check the date range you searched. Playback defaults to today. Tap the calendar/date field and confirm you're on the right day. Days with recordings are normally marked; an unmarked day simply has no footage.
- Confirm the hard drive is healthy. On the NVR/DVR, a missing, unformatted, or failed HDD means nothing records. In the app open the device's storage/HDD status, or check the recorder locally — the disk should read Normal, not Uninitialized or Error.
- Check the recording schedule. If the schedule is off or set to the wrong channel, the camera streams live but never saves. On the recorder, make sure continuous and/or motion recording is enabled for that channel, all day.
- Look at storage and overwrite. Disks fill up and overwrite the oldest clips first. If you're searching last month but the drive only holds two weeks, that footage is already gone. This is normal — shorten your search window.
- Mind sub-stream vs. main-stream. Some setups only record the main-stream. If playback won't load, switch the stream quality in the player (often a gear or HD/SD toggle) and retry.
A brand-new or recently swapped hard drive must be initialized/formatted on the recorder first. Until it shows Normal, the device records nothing and your timeline stays empty.
How do I search the timeline and jump to motion events?
- From Live View or the device list, select the channel and tap Playback.
- Pick the date. The horizontal timeline shows recorded segments as colored blocks.
- Drag the timeline left/right to scrub; pinch to zoom in for minute-level accuracy.
- To find activity fast, filter by event/motion. Motion segments are highlighted, and your push alerts with thumbnails link straight to that moment — tap an alert to jump to it.
If motion segments are missing but you get live alerts, the recorder likely isn't saving motion events. Enable motion recording for that channel on the NVR/DVR.
How do I download or export a clip to my phone?
- Open Playback and locate the moment you want.
- Tap the scissors/clip or download icon, then set the start and end of the segment.
- Confirm to export. The clip saves to the app's recordings/files area, and from there you can save it to your phone's gallery or share it.
For long incidents, export several short clips instead of one large file — they download faster over the cloud and are easier to share with your dealer or the police.
Why is LTS Connect playback slow or laggy?
Cloud playback streams from your recorder through PT Cloud to your phone, so it depends on the upload speed at the camera site.
- Switch to the sub-stream. Lower the playback quality (SD / sub-stream). This is the single biggest fix for stutter and buffering.
- Check the upload bandwidth at the recorder's location, not just your phone's connection — slow upload at the site is the usual cause.
- Avoid fast-forwarding too aggressively over the cloud; high playback speeds need far more bandwidth.
- Test on Wi-Fi vs. cellular to rule out a weak mobile signal on your end.
- For frame-accurate review of a critical event, play it back locally on the NVR/DVR monitor, which isn't limited by internet speed.
